About Catherine
A tale for every occasion
Catherine Brophy is an Irish storyteller, writer, and wanderer with a twinkle in her eye and a story for every occasion. Her journey began with the enchanting tales her mother shared during childhood — and she's been spinning them ever since.
She's a three-time finalist and one-time winner of the Dublin StorySlam, has performed at the Abbey Theatre, and tours her one-woman show A Fortunate Life across Ireland. Whether she's performing on stage, leading a workshop, or writing from the road, Catherine's stories bring back memories, make people laugh, and tell the truth with heart.

Catherine Brophy is a highly talented oral storyteller. I recently engaged her to perform at the YARN Story Circle in the Town Hall in Bray. This is a monthly storytelling event for adult audiences.
Catherine engaged the group from the start and interwove a beautiful set of both folk and personal tales. We look forward to welcoming Catherine in November 2025 with A Fortunate Life, her one woman storytelling show, to Mermaid's stage as part of our YARN Storytelling Festival.

I attended a writing workshop given by Catherine. It was a great experience. And very helpful in getting over my hesitation to write stories which had been haunting me for years. Apart from that it was fun, which I consider an important factor in learning. Catherine is good in helping silence the inner critic and making it feel safe enough to read our creations in front of others.
